Acts: You have made known to me the ways of life; you will make me full of gladness with your presence.’
Some people think I am crazy to shut down my business. "What will you do," they ask. What I hear is, how will you make money? I haven't found anywhere in the Bible that says, "You shall make money and be happy."
When I felt that inner guidance instructing me to "write down" the recipe that would become Divine Inspired Spice, I knew it would lead me somewhere. In some sense, I believe it's not done leading me.
I don't see closing down the business as a failure but as a reminder to stay in close contact with God and be open to where He leads. Jesus didn't say to His disciples, "Gather as much money as you can, and spread my word."
Instead, Jesus said, "'When I sent you out without a purse, bag, or sandals, did you lack anything?' They said, 'No, not a thing.'" (NRSVCE Luke 22:35)
Of course, that doesn't mean I will sit around doing nothing. I want to see where the good Lord leads me. Undoubtedly, He will lead me where I need to go, show me what I need to see, allow me to write what I need to write, and live what I need to experience.
May we have the courage today to be present and be happy where we are.
