I'll take it! Being an heir of Abraham sounds just fine to me. Being one of the countless stars in the sky; I'm good with it.
I think about Abraham and Sarah, what trials they went through, having a baby in their old age. The energy it must have taken to rear a child. I seriously cannot imagine. But they did it. They paved the way (Camino) for all of us because they believed in God and God's promise for their lives, and ultimately our lives.
I have a friend going through a hard time. She said, "If there is a God, why is this happening to me?"
One of the things I've learned is that the "why" question is not ours to ask. Ours is to believe that everything is happening for our good, no matter what it is. Even if it's uncomfortable, downright miserable, there is a reason for everything. It's just that it's God's reason, and since we are not God, we do not need to know the reason. We simply need to have faith that everything will ultimately work out for our good. If someone walks out on us, that person is not meant to be in our lives, and someone better is out there. If we lose our job, it's only because there is something more important that we need to be doing.
I'm choosing to believe in God's promise for my life.
