1 John: There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love.
Often I find myself living in a place of fear, which can be staggering and debilitating. Typically, my daughter will call me out on it, but every so often, I find myself realizing it. Fear is the opposite of love.
Fear is putting faith in the things of this world and caring what others think. I've found that everyone is dealing with something, or we wouldn't be here. We all struggle with something: fear, trust, lack of self-esteem, unworthiness, pride, greed, addiction. The list is endless. We have to carry our cross, and each day we try to die to that aspect that we carry. Truly, we can only do things through Christ. We can't carry that cross by ourselves. Christ tells us that His yoke is light because He has already carried all our sins and all our suffering and continues to do so. All we have to do is surrender ourselves, surrender our cross to Him.
That's all God has ever wanted from us, to have faith in Him and lean on Him for everything, just like the birds in the sky. They don't fear, especially the spring birds chatting joyously amongst themselves.
Today, let us intentionally live in love. Let us seek out love and spend some good, quality time with God, the one who provides everything.
