Revelation: Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches.
I watched the movie Jesus Revolution. It's a story about a stiff-necked pastor (Kelsey Grammar) who has a failing church during the late sixties and early seventies until his daughter brings home a hippie (Jonathan Roumie (who also plays Jesus from The Chosen (great series)), who opens the pastor's eyes to the love of Christ and turns the church from being exclusive to being inclusive.
The Holy Spirit is inclusive. Is it possible to keep the Spirit in a box or control it in any way? It is like the wind, not knowing where it comes from not where it will go.
Livingston is one of the windiest places ever. I will go on a limb and say it's one of the windiest places in the United States. The interstate runs east-west and divides the town north-south with Paradise Valley on the south and, further south, Yellowstone National Park. The Park has its own weather pattern, and the wind is often generated in the Park, blows over the valley, gets pinched between two outcrops, and creates a wind tunnel. The wind tunnel is what blows over the interstate and often closes to keep the semi-trucks from blowing over.
When I first heard about the wind in Livingston, I didn't really believe it until I looked at the wind tunnel, and then it made sense. The saying goes that it's only windy from Halloween until Easter. So with Easter right around the corner, we're almost done with the windy season. Maybe God is simply blessing Livingston with the Holy Spirit.
May we be open to the Holy Spirit this day and hear what the Spirit is calling us to.
