March 6

2 Corinthians: who has made us competent to be ministers of a new covenant, not of letter but of spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

The Spirit works in mysterious ways. As I mentioned, two Lents ago, I felt that small inner voice suggest that I break down the verses into chapter and verse and equate it to month and day.

Last night, I went to Mass and the priest started his Homily recalling how he had a day-by-day calendar with Scripture verses for each day. One of the days/verses was, "If you, then will worship me, it will all be yours," which was said by Satan when tempting Jesus in the wilderness. The priest went on to say that that person obviously didn't know Scripture and was only out to make a buck. He said that Scripture needs to be read as a whole, and there's even a word for that process.

I believe that that small inner voice is God/Spirit and I believe that voice to be true. It is the same Spirit that led the Wise Men to Bethlehem, the Apostles, Moses, David, Abraham, etc. It is the same Spirit that you may have heard in your own lives.

I know I spent many years ignoring Spirit, believing others knew what was best for me. It wasn't until I started honoring and obeying Spirit that I started truly living.

May you listen to God/Spirit in your own lives and may you live fully.

2 Thessalonians: Now we command you, beloved, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from believers who are living in idleness and not according to the tradition that they received from us.

1 Timothy: He must not be a recent convert, or he may be puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil.

James: And the tongue is a fire. The tongue is placed among our members as a world of iniquity; it stains the whole body, sets on fire the cycle of nature, and is itself set on fire by hell.

1 Peter: Thus Sarah obeyed Abraham and called him lord. You have become her daughters as long as you do what is good and never let fears alarm you.

2 Peter: through which the world of that time was deluged with water and perished.
